Alright y’all, get ready to celebrate a true Atlanta institution because The Porch Press is turning 40, and they’re throwing a party! This is “40 Years on the Porch,” and it’s all about celebrating four decades of keeping our Southeast ATL neighborhoods connected with some good old-fashioned community vibes and citizen-journalism.

So, what can you expect when you roll up? This isn’t just a party, it’s a community celebration and fundraiser all rolled into one. They’ll be serving up some tasty small bites to keep you fueled, and there will be live entertainment to set the mood. Plus, who doesn’t love a good prize raffle? You know I’m always down for a chance to win something!

This shindig is for everyone who’s ever been touched by The Porch Press, whether you’re a current reader, a longtime volunteer, an advertiser, a contributor, or just a friend or family member who appreciates what they do. You’ll get to hang out with their board of directors and the amazing volunteer staff, sharing stories and soaking in all the history. They’re even going to have Porch Press memorabilia on display, so get ready for some serious nostalgia and lively conversation.

This is a fantastic night out, whether you’re looking for a low-key date night, a chill girls’ night, or just a friendly solo hang. You’ll be surrounded by folks who genuinely care about their community, and that kind of energy is always infectious. It’s a chance to connect, reminisce, and show some love to a nonprofit, volunteer-powered monthly newspaper that serves nine Southeast Atlanta neighborhoods.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 24. The party kicks off at 7:00 PM and goes until 10:00 PM. We’re heading to Ormewood Church, which is located at 1071 Delaware Avenue Southeast, right here in East Atlanta. For tickets and pricing info, you’ll need to check the ticket link. And hey, if you can’t make it in person but still want to show your support, you can absolutely make a donation of any amount. Just click “Get tickets” and the donation option will pop right up for you.
