Hey y’all, if you’re in the food service game and need to get your ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, listen up! This program is going down in Atlanta and it’s a great way to make sure you’re up to speed on all the food safety rules.
This isn’t your average chill class, though. It’s a fast-paced, four-hour review course, so you absolutely gotta do some self-study before you even show up. Not everything will be covered in class, so hit up the HRBUniversal training portal, accessible from any device, to get all your materials. You’ll find instructions on how to access it in your Eventbrite confirmation email.
When you get there, check-in is from 8:30 AM to 8:45 AM. The lecture runs from 8:45 AM to 1:00 PM, then you get an hour for a lunch break. The exam kicks off at 2:00 PM and wraps up around 4:00 PM. Heads up, once that exam starts, no one else is getting in. Most folks finish in about 45 minutes to an hour, but you’ve got a full two hours if you need it.
This ServSafe program is developed by the National Restaurant Association, with help from industry experts who totally get the daily risks you face. It blends the latest FDA Food Code with food safety research, so you’ll learn how to put essential food safety practices into action and build a culture of safety. All the content is based on actual job tasks, so it’s super relevant to what you do every day.
The location for the session will be sent to you once registration closes, to make sure everyone has proper social distancing. You’ll find it on your ticket, in your confirmation email, and in the HRBUniversal mobile app. Speaking of the app, HRBUniversal has a free one you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to help you prep and stay updated on everything.
For the exam itself, it’s all electronic. You can bring your own computer or tablet, or HRBUniversal will hook you up with an Amazon Fire Tablet. You can take the exam in English, Spanish, Chinese, or French Canadian. If you need a paper exam, just request it 20+ days before the exam date with your paid registration. Paper exams are available in Chinese, English, French Canadian, Instructor, Japanese, Korean, Large Print, or Spanish.
Now for the tickets, the price changes depending on when you snag them. If you buy 15 or more days before the course and exam, it’s $159. If you buy 14 to 5 days before, it’s $179. And if you’re cutting it close, under 5 days before, it’s $199. If you just need to take the exam, that’s $129. By paying, you’re agreeing to their terms. This certification is a must-have for anyone who’s the Person In Charge (PIC) at a food and beverage establishment, as stated in the FDA Food Code, so make sure you’re certified!
