Get ready, Atlanta, because a night of pure new wave and pop rock royalty is heading your way. English legends Squeeze are bringing their “Tried, Tested and Trixies” tour to the historic Fox Theatre on Thursday, August 22, at 7:00 PM, and they are not coming alone. They are joined by the iconic Adam Ant and the always-groovy Haircut 100 for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of classic hits and new tunes.
Squeeze, formed in London in 1974, are renowned for the brilliant songwriting partnership of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. These two have been hailed as musical heirs to Lennon and McCartney, crafting clever, catchy songs that defined the new wave era. Their impressive catalog includes UK top-ten hits like “Cool for Cats” and “Up the Junction,” as well as American favorites such as “Tempted” and “Black Coffee in Bed.” This tour celebrates their new album, “Trixies,” released earlier this year, and fans can expect a vibrant mix of fresh material alongside all the beloved classics.
Joining Squeeze on this incredible bill is Adam Ant, a true legend of new wave. Born Stuart Leslie Goddard, Adam Ant rose to fame as the charismatic frontman of Adam and the Ants before embarking on a highly successful solo career. Known for his flamboyant style and theatrical performances, he racked up ten UK top-ten hits between 1980 and 1983, including three number-one singles. His albums like “Kings of the Wild Frontier” and “Prince Charming” solidified his place as a pop culture icon.
Kicking off the night’s festivities will be Haircut 100, the British pop group that burst onto the scene in 1980. With their unique blend of jazz-influenced pop and new wave, they quickly scored four UK top-ten singles, including “Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)” and “Love Plus One.” Their debut album, “Pelican West,” was a massive success, reaching number two in the UK. After a hiatus, the band has recently reformed and even released a new album, “Boxing the Compass,” in June 2026, so prepare for some fresh sounds along with their timeless grooves.
All this musical magic is happening at the magnificent Fox Theatre, a true Atlanta landmark. Originally envisioned in 1928 as a grand headquarters for the city’s Shriners, this architectural marvel draws inspiration from the Alhambra in Spain and Egypt’s Temple of Karnak. Its stunning Moorish design, complete with soaring domes, intricate gold leaf, and minarets, makes it an unforgettable setting for any performance.
