T.I’s Da’Partments 2 Just Premiered in Atlanta, and Y’all… We Need to Talk

Atlanta, we officially have a new favorite. On Thursday, July 9, 2026, Hungry Homegirl pulled up to the invite only screening of “Da’Partments 2” at Regal Cinemas in Atlantic Station, and let’s just say the city showed all the way out.

The night kicked off with a red carpet at 8:00 PM, packed with familiar faces, good energy, and that unmistakable “we’re all from the same place” feeling that only happens at a true ATL event. Before the movie even started, I got the chance to meet members of the cast in person, and that alone set the tone for the whole night. There’s something different about laughing with someone on the carpet and then watching them steal the scene twenty minutes later. It made the movie feel less like a premiere I was covering and more like a family function I got invited to.

From the jump, this movie did not play. Y’all are going to laugh. I mean really laugh. The comedians brought their full comedic range, the punchlines hit back to back, and the chemistry on screen felt so natural it was like watching your own friend group clown around, not actors reciting lines. Fair warning though, you might need the subtitles for this one, because the Atlanta accents were thick. Real Atlanta thick. If you know, you know, and if you don’t, the captions got you.

What stood out most was watching TI’s excitement to put on for his community through this film. You could feel how much this project meant to him, not just as a movie, but as a platform to spotlight local Atlanta comedians and give them their flowers on a bigger stage. He brought his people with him, literally. His family was part of the film too, with his daughter Sonnet and son King showing up as part of the cast, adding an even deeper layer of heart to the whole project. It wasn’t just Atlanta talent being featured, it was Atlanta family being celebrated.

And that’s really what made the night hit different. Underneath all the jokes and one liners, there was this quiet nostalgia running through the whole film. Watching a movie so deeply rooted in Atlanta culture, humor, and community took me all the way back. It’s one thing to see your city referenced in a script. It’s another thing to see it represented with this much authenticity, love, and inside jokes that only locals will fully catch.

The night wrapped with a live Q&A with TI right after the screening, giving the room a chance to hear directly from him about what it meant to bring this sequel to life with so much of Atlanta’s own talent involved. It was the perfect close to a night that already felt like a celebration of everything this city represents.

Leaving Atlantic Station, I felt genuinely full. Not just because the movie was funny, though it absolutely was, but because I got to witness a real moment of Atlanta culture being uplifted by the people who actually built it. TI didn’t just premiere a movie. He brought his community, his comedians, and his family together under one roof and let the city see itself reflected on screen.

“Da’Partments 2” is a must watch. Grab your people, prepare to laugh until it hurts, and maybe turn those subtitles on just in case. Atlanta raised this one, and it shows.
